    How to Brew Kilan Coffee

    A few simple steps for a smooth, low-acid cup — however you like to brew it.

    Choose Your Roast Level
    Light: bright, fruity, and more acidic. Medium: balanced, smooth, and naturally sweet. Dark: bold, smoky, full-bodied, with lower perceived acidity. All roasts contain different levels of natural antioxidants; roasting changes their balance. Choose light for brightness, medium for balance, or dark for bold flavor.

    Choose Your Method
    Kilan works well as pour-over, French press, Espresso, drip, or the traditional Ethiopian way in a Jebena.

    Grind Fresh
    Grind your beans right before brewing for the best flavor. A medium grind works well for most methods.

    Get the Ratio Right
    A common starting point is about 1 to 2 tablespoons of coffee for every 6 ounces of water — then adjust to your taste.

Green beans are roasted fresh, ground by hand, and brewed in a clay pot called a jebena, then poured and shared in small cups with family and friends. It's a tradition older than the modern coffee industry itself, and it's the tradition Kilan comes from.
